2015

March - Congratulations to Alicia Allen and former Suggs lab undergraduates Elda Trevino (GA Tech) and Christine Laramy (Northwestern U.) for being selected to receive NSF Graduate Research Fellowships! Congratulations also to former undergraduate Marissa Ruehle (GA Tech), who won an Honorable Mention award for her NSF application! 


February - Recent graduate Ryan Stowers’ paper, entitled “Dynamic phototuning of 3D hydrogel stiffness” is published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Read the BME department press release with links to the article here. Congrats, Ryan!


2014

    November - Ryan Stowers successfully defends his dissertation and finishes his tenure in lab to take a postdoctoral position in the lab of Ovijit Chaudhuri at Stanford. Congrats, Dr. Stowers and all the best in California!

    October - Laura Ricles finishes her tenure in the Suggs lab and takes a job at the FDA in Washington, D.C. All the best and good luck, LR!

    September - Laura Geuss finishes her tenure in the Suggs lab and takes an industry job in New Jersey. All the best and good luck, LG!

    August - Shane Allen, Kiheon Baek, and Kabir Dhada join the lab. Welcome!

        - Laura Ricles successfully defends her dissertation. Congrats, Dr. Ricles!   

    July - Laura Geuss successfully defends her dissertation. Congrats, Dr. Geuss!

    Laura Ricles’ review paper is accepted for publication in Tissue Engineering Part B.

    June - Eunna Chung finishes her tenure as a postdoctoral fellow and returns to her native South Korea. All the best of luck, Eunna!

    March - Daniela Santiesteban is awarded an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Congrats, Daniela!

    February - Mary Nguyen’s and Kevin Eckes’ paper is accepted to Soft Matter!

    January - Laura Ricles is awarded the Sandia National Laboratories Research Award for her poster presented at the Graduate Engineering Council’s GAIN

        (Graduate and Industry Networking) event. Great job, Laura!

        - Julie finishes up her tenure in the Suggs Lab and leaves Austin for a postdoctoral fellowship at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in   

    Seattle, WA. All the best of luck, Julie -- we’ll miss you!


2013

    December - Julie Rytlewski marries longtime boyfriend Chris Rogers. The lab gets down on the dance floor and a cake was cut with a samurai sword.

    October - Kevin Eckes’ and Mary Nguyen’s paper about conjugated dipeptide self-assembly is published in the ACS journal Biomacromolecules!

        - Eunna Chung’s, Laura Ricles’, and Ryan Stowers’ nanoparticle review paper is accepted for publication in the journal Nano Today!
